"I Work with Dogs Because I Don't Like People!": People Skills for Positive Outcomes

Part 1 - Tuesday, 9/10/24 at 7pm Eastern

  • Are you frustrated with your client’s lack of participation and follow through?

  • Do you want to increase your effectiveness while communicating with your clients?

  • Are you unsure how to support clients during tough conversations about euthanasia and grief?

You already know how stress affects dogs, but what about humans?  Learn how stress affects the human learner and how you can work towards meeting each client where they are. Attendees will learn about the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) caregiver burden survey, which helps to quantify the pet owner’s burden, and be given the survey to start using with their own clients. Tools that can increase understanding between you and your client will be shared whether it is a typical session or a tough conversation with emotions running high.

Part 1 helps us to better understand and support others, but what about you? Part 2 focuses on you and your needs as a pet professional!

Part 2 - Tuesday, 9/17/24 at 7pm Eastern

  • Are you nearing or experiencing compassion fatigue or burnout?

  • Are you your own worst critic when it comes to making mistakes?

  • Do you struggle processing your own emotions when dealing with ethical conflict surrounding quality of life and euthanasia?

This session will take a deep dive into your emotions as a pet professional and how to navigate them whether it is the daily grind or a difficult case or situation. Attendees will learn how to identify compassion fatigue, burnout and how to work towards compassion satisfaction. Real-life examples of boundaries that you can set and tools to increase resiliency will be shared.

Part 2 focuses on you and your needs as a pet pro, but to really increase your effectiveness, you must also learn more about supporting your clients!  Part 1 covers that and so much more, so don’t miss it!
